Rider Waite |
The world's most popular 78-card tarot deck. The Rider-Waite
tarot deck was conceived in 1909 by Author Edward Waite and painted by Pamela
Colman Smith. Waite encouraged Smith to produce a tarot pack with appeal to the
world of art that would have significance behind the symbols and thus make the
deck more important than tarot packs previously used for centuries. The
innovative Minor Arcana cards, and Pamela Colman Smith s ability to capture the
subtleties of emotion and experience, has made the Rider-Waite tarot a model for
the designs of many twentieth-century tarot packs.
The Albano-Waite deck
is a 1968 reprint based on Colman's designs.
The Deluxe Edition has full gilt
edges, and is packaged in a special sleeve box.
The Golden Rider deck is
painted in bold colors by Francois Tapernoux based on Colman's
designs.
The Universal Waite deck is an eye-appealing alternative to the
traditional Rider-Waite deck.
